Leon Koehler with MRS at the season finale in the USA

Atlanta, Georgia – November 08, 2021 – For the finale of the Porsche Carrera Cup North America, which will be held this week as part of the famous “Petit Le Mans” on the Road Atlanta race track, the American MRS offshoot is strengthening itself with a top driver. The 22-year-old Leon Koehler attracted attention with a clear victory at the season finale of the German Porsche Carrera Cup and thus finished third in the championship.

As a support race to the Petit Le Mans, three races will be held, races one and two on Thursday, 11th of November, and the third race on Friday. Under IMSA.com you will find the link to the livestream as well as the schedule.

Leon Koehler will drive the starting number 14, the 992 Cup Porsche with the eye-catching US design that Team MRS has created for its premiere year in the USA. On the #16 sister car, Steve Dunn will once again take the wheel and do his best to climb the Pro-Am podium.

Karsten Molitor (Team-owner): “We are very pleased that it worked out with Leon, which was not foreseeable under the current travel restrictions. The aim of this action is clearly defined; we want to put an exclamation point again at the end of the season and, in the best case, win in order to recommend ourselves for 2022 now. Although the fast track at Road Atlanta is new territory for the youngster, given plenty of track time in three races, this should be compensable.

Next year’s calendar of the Porsche Carrera Cup North America includes the famous city race in Long Beach and a championship race in Laguna Seca. MRS will also add another vehicle to its range and attack with three 992 Cup vehicles.”
